Tucker Kraft Eyes Return To Health And TE1 Status For Fantasy Football
Ian Hartitz examines the Green Bay Packers TE room, and how Tucker Kraft can return to fantasy football prominence.
For eight games Tucker Kraft had fantasy football managers who were lucky enough to draft him well after the elite TEs at the top of the draft beyond ecstatic. Then those dreaded Injury Gods pulled the rug out from under us. Now he's rehabbing from a torn ACL, but Kraft could very well go back to top-notch production once he's 100% healthy. Ian Hartitz breaks it down as part of his Green Bay Packers Team Preview.
Can Tucker Kraft pick up where he left off in 2025 before his injury?
- TE1: Tucker Kraft (TE6 in Fantasy Life ranks)
- TE2: Luke Musgrave
It sure would be cool if he did. After all, Kraft's 14.7 PPR points per game wound up being good for the fourth-highest mark at the position last season, and he's sitting pretty as the TE2 behind only Trey McBride if you don't include his injury-shortened Week 9 affair.
And that's just the fantasy numbers. Kraft's per-route efficiency numbers are enough to take a lonely fantasy analyst from six to midnight:

Of course, it is that aforementioned injury that's the problem here. Kraft tore his ACL on Nov. 2. The injury also included a meniscus trim and minor LCL damage. Learned doctors are unsure if Kraft is more likely to be ready for Week 1, or headed to the PUP list. A ramp-up period early in the season is possible.
And yet, early drafters have Kraft going as the TE5 off the board. His overall pick position (81.4) is quite a bit removed from TE4 Tyler Warren (66.8), but let's face it: That's a steep price for someone who did admittedly benefit from guys like Watson and Reed being out of the picture during his big weeks.
It's easy to root for Kraft (why would you not?), but I'm the lame Fantasy Life ranker who is a bit worried about the target competition and return from injury. Kraft is my TE8, but the other ranks have him between TE4 and TE6. Choose your fighter!
Also note: Luke Musgrave somehow failed to score a touchdown last season and surpassed 25 yards just twice in two of 10 games with Kraft out of the picture. This was due to guys like John FitzPatrick and Josh Whyle also playing plenty of snaps in Kraft's absence. Maybe FitzPatrick's absence (currently a free agent) could lead to a more featured role for Musgrave in the absence of Kraft, but even then, we're talking about someone *at best* likely to be in the low-end TE2 conversation should another starting opportunity emerge. Pass.
